The Women's World Cup begins Friday at 9:00 pm local time (19:00 GMT) at the Parc des Princes in Paris with an opening match between France and South Korea.
The competition will last until July 7, with a total of 24 teams for 52 games in a dozen stadiums in France. Led by Corinne Deacon, the France team is one of the favorites for this edition.
After the first match against South Korea, the France team will face Norway on Wednesday, June 12, at 21h, at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, and Nigeria, Monday, June 17, at 21h still, Roazhon Park Rennes.
China will face Germany on Saturday, June 8 at 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT) at Roazhon Park in Rennes. China will then play against South Africa on June 13 at 21:00 local time (19:00 GMT) at the Parc des Princes in Paris, and then against Spain on June 17 at 18:00 local time at Océane Stadium in Le Havre.
The Women's Football World Cup is organized every four years by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) and its first official competition took place in 1991 in China which also welcomed it again in 2007. This is the first time that the competition takes place in France.
The record is currently held by four countries: the United States, which has won three times, Germany twice, followed by Japan and Norway, each having won once. The last edition in 2015 was won by the United States.
