At least 27 people died as a result of heavy rains that hit the Indian city of Mumbai and several other nearby cities, Western media reported Tuesday.
The victims of the showers were people who were near buildings and died from the collapse of structures. Rescue services are still on the scene, the search continues.
Previously reported 18 dead.
Rain also flooded roads and railways. Thousands of passengers were stuck at train stations.
The government of Maharashtra, where Mumbai is located, said that on Tuesday, due to the incessant rains, only emergency services would work in the city.
