The first electric hypercar from Lotus received the name Evija

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lotus confirmed a new name for its new hypercar.

According to Lotus, the name Evija, meaning "first in existence" or "live", is more than appropriate, since Evija, formerly known as Type 130, will become the first electric hypercar of the British automaker.

Representatives of the brand say that when Evija will be on the conveyor next year, the company will open an "exciting new chapter in the history of the iconic British sports car brand."

In addition, said Lotus, hypercar is the first large car, released under the control of Geely, and hinted that the value of the group in the creation of new items can not be exaggerated.
On the eve of the debut to be held at a special event in London at the end of July, the company released an intriguing video demonstrating a thin center console with a six-sided start button and a gear shift lever. Visitors to the Lotus booth at Goodwood can get a unique insight into Evija through a “dramatic light show” that promises to reveal new details of the upcoming hypercar.
Production of the model will be limited to 130 copies. As it became known from the company's previous reports, Evija will receive a carbon monocoque chassis with four electric motors with a capacity of more than 1000 hp. It is expected that the hypercar has an active aerodynamics and high-tech battery.

“Evija is the perfect name for our new car, because this is the first hypercar from Lotus, our first electric offer and the first new model running by Geely. Evija is a Lotus, not like the others, but a real Lotus in every sense, ”said Lotus General Director Phil Popham.
