Dry up in Chennai Reservoir, India

India has recently experienced high temperatures, heat waves, and reduced rainfall.

In Chennai, the sixth largest city in the south, the water shortage problem has rapidly deteriorated and it has turned into a serious crisis. The four reservoirs in the city have dried up and millions of people have been short of water.

The Water Authority has been forced to reduce the supply of tap water by nearly half. Other cities have also dispatched water and water to Chennai.

Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu with a population of approximately 4.6 million. A major cause of this severe water shortage crisis is the slow future of this year's monsoon rains.

The meteorological department said that Chennai City usually has monsoon rains every year until early June, but there have been no monsoon rains so far this year. National Rural Development Minister Vilumani said that Tamil Nadu’s monsoon rains have dropped 62% last year.

Therefore, the late arrival of the monsoon rain this year has caused Chennai City to quickly fall into a water shortage crisis.

The city's water bureau was forced to reduce the supply of tap water by 40% for the four reservoirs in the city's main source of water. Other cities dispatched water and water to Chennai to solve the city's urgent needs.

Recently, there are long people waiting for water in front of the waterwheel.

In order to solve the water shortage crisis, the Tamil Nadu government has sent personnel to drill underground water sources for emergency response, but the groundwater source has also been rapidly reduced.

It can be seen that this method is only a temporary solution. Many residents who are anxious to burn do not want to see the water shortage crisis causing people to die, and they rushed to the temple to ask for rain.

When local officials accepted the BBC's visit, they said: "Destruction is just beginning. It only rains to save Chennai. If there is not enough rain this year, everything will be destroyed."

Tamil Nadu is a car. The manufacturing center, Chennai City, has the title of "South Asia Detroit". The city is also known for its well-developed medical tourism.

Serious water shortages have caused hotels operating in the city to take water supply measures to the guests.

A hotel manager, interviewed by a foreign media reporter, said that his hotel is currently paying for two large trucks to deliver water from a city 60 kilometers away. The general public also has to pay a rupee to fill a can of water, and limited to five cans at a time, even so, many people cannot buy water.

In another city in southern India, Coimbatore, on the 20th, a large number of people took the same water to the city government headquarters to protest the deterioration of the shortage of water, which was related to the mismanagement of officials.

During the period, there were conflicts between demonstrators and police, at least 550 people were arrested.
