Zhangjiakou: Olympic Winter Games venues to be ready for testing by end of 2019

The competition venues in Zhangjiakou, the co-host city of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, will meet standards for testing by the end of the year.

Major construction projects in Zhangjiakou, in northeastern Hebei Province, will be fully completed next year, according to China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG), the builder.
The main structure of the biathlon center has already been completed, while the ski slope in the Cross-Country Ski Center has undergone an intermediate inspection.
The construction of the National Ski Jumping Center, which will host ski jumping and Nordic combined competitions, is expected to be completed next year.
Unlike ski jump sites abroad, often built on ridges and resting mainly on the embankment for the construction of jump platforms and runways, the National Ski Jumping Center will be built on a frame structure between valleys, said CRCEG project director Jiang Xiupeng.

"It will be more comfortable for athletes to use the mountains as a windbreaker at future competitions," Jiang said.
Zhangjiakou will be hosting snowboarding, freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined and biathlon competitions at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
