Putin declared flooding in the Irkutsk region of emergency of federal scale

Flooding in the Irkutsk region is recognized as an emergency situation at the federal level. The decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to this document from the federal budget should be allocated money for the overhaul of damaged homes and affected people. The Russian Armed Forces will be attracted to the elimination of the consequences.

The Cabinet of Ministers, according to the decree, is obliged to report to Putin every month on the implementation of measures to combat flooding.

Flooding in the Irkutsk region began last week due to heavy rains. This is the most powerful summer flood for more than a century of meteorological observations in the region. 

It affected more than 90 settlements. According to the latest data, 20 people died. More than 1,200 homes were destroyed, about 10,000 were flooded. 

According to the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Sergey Levchenko, flood damage, according to preliminary data amounted to 29 billion rubles.

• According to official figures, the death toll has increased to 14 people, another 13 people are considered missing. At the moment, more than 190 people have been hospitalized, including 38 children. Most victims have hypothermia.
• 2,600 people were evacuated from the flooded areas, including 574 children. 676 people are in temporary accommodation centers, of which 245 are children. Part of the evacuees stayed with relatives and friends
• The emergency mode operates in six districts of the region: Tulunsky, Chunsky, Nizhneudinsky, Taishet, Zimin and Kuytun
• The state of emergency was introduced in the Irkutsk region on June 27. The water level in local rivers exceeded the critical level. Now in the region the automobile infrastructure is partially destroyed, the automobile bridge in Tulun is flooded, the federal highway Krasnoyarsk - Irkutsk is blocked
• The railway was not damaged by the flood, the movement of trains all days was carried out on schedule and under the supervision of specialists
• At the moment, the authorities of the region have restored 10 socially significant facilities, cleared 44 km of roads, power supply in 18 settlements has been restored
