US President Donald Trump said that tanks would participate in a military parade on Independence Day on July 4 in Washington, the Associated Press reports.
According to Trump, several tanks will be placed outside. “You need to be very careful with tanks because the roads usually do not like it when heavy tanks are on them. So we have to put them in certain places,” he explained.
It is assumed that heavy equipment will be placed on the National Mall.
According to the Associated Press photographer, at least two M1A1 Abrams tanks have already arrived in Washington. They with four other military vehicles are in a freight train at a train station on the southeastern edge of Washington.
The photographer noted that the equipment is guarded by military police, but it can be seen by passersby.
The event in honor of US Independence Day this year is called "Glory to America" and is dedicated to the American military. According to the agency, Trump wanted to mark a July 4 military parade after seeing a similar event in Paris in 2007.
Previously, the parade did not take place due to the dissatisfaction of US lawmakers with the stated price of $ 92 million.
