US nearly negotiates peace with Taliban in Afghanistan: details of agreement

The agreement between the United States of America and the Taliban Afghan movement, which will be discussed at the talks in the capital of Qatar, Doha, should primarily concern the achievement of peace in Afghanistan, and not the withdrawal of US troops.

" Just arrived in Doha to resume negotiations with the Taliban." We seek a peace agreement, not an agreement on the withdrawal of troops. This is a peace agreement that will make possible the withdrawal of troops. Our presence in Afghanistan depends on the conditions, and any withdrawal of troops will depend on the fulfillment of the conditions, "he said.

According to Khalilzad, the Taliban " give a signal that they want to conclude an agreement ." “ We are ready for a good agreement,” he stressed.

On August 1, Muhammad Sohail Shahin, the spokesman for the Taliban’s office in Doha, said the Taliban was hoping to reach an agreement with the United States in talks in Qatar’s capital. 

Earlier, he also emphasized that the Taliban were not going to conduct direct negotiations with the government of Afghanistan until the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country was announced.

The Pentagon reported that the US Department of Defense did not receive orders to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.

According to the Pentagon, since the start of hostilities in 2001, about 2.4 thousand American troops have died in the country, more than 20 thousand have been injured.

Earlier, the Taliban said they were hoping to reach an agreement with the United States in the upcoming talks, which will begin in Qatar's capital, Doha, at the end of this week.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Donald Trump instructed him to begin the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan before 2020. Pompeo noted that the US president wants to end the endless wars and expressed hope that the need for military forces in the region will decrease.

The Secretary of State emphasized that the United States and the Taliban have made significant progress in the negotiations over the past year.
